Medway Arts Tours

From Charles Dickens to Billy Childish - Medway has a rich history of art and artists. For visitors from near and far, corporate group bonding or exclusive family adventurers, Mrs Baker offers an experiential taste of the arts past and present, with a range of  bespoke, interactive cultural experiences.

Greeted in period style by an internationally certificated costumed guide, you will be introduced to Medway history. Your guide leads you to a hands-on experience of the arts in a workshop with one of Medway's cutting edge practitioners. Comedy? Jewellery? Photography? Fashion? Alcohol? The choice is yours!  We offer 2 options here: 3 hour Air BNB Experience Packages, or bespoke 4 hour experiences booked direct with us here.

From Rochester Station a local historical character will guide you. Literature. language and comedy - then and now - are the topics of discussion, as you explore a riverside route with views straight out of Dickens.

Your workshop: In the true spirit of The Pickwick Papers, this workshop is all about laughter. Comedy experts Funny Women will help you find your stand-up voice.  Discover how humour helps - in business and in everyday life.

From Chatham Station your costumed guide will introduce you to Chatham Fact & fiction, printing and protest - then and now -  as you explore surprising views and hidden gems along your route.

Your workshop: In quirky surroundings Medway Fine Printmakers will guide your creation of a tote bag or t-shirt with the slogan of your choice. While it dries, your costumed character will lead you to sup a steaming hot toddy in a secret and unexpected location!​ Or you will have a singing workshop in a secret location with unrivalled accoustics - and your toddy will arrive to help oil your vocal chords!

Explore urban arts in the dynamic and historic
Luton Arches area of Chatham in Medway, Kent.
This intriguing slice of Victoriana has rich artistry
running through its bustling streets. 
Exploring themes of transport and progress from
the industrial revolution to the present day, you
will be delighted and surprised by the welcome
awaiting you from locals who love their area.

Your workshop: Takes place in the ‘smallest art
gallery’ in the most surprising location on Luton
High Street. For a real taste of the vibrant, working
class Chatham that shaped the Medway Scene –
world renowned music, then move to the beat of
this innovative and irresistible experience.

Creative Arts. Fashion has a home in Medway.
The military and maritime links of this Medway
Town will unfold as you explore and the workshop
will reflect the influence of history.

 

Your workshop: Will be with the Founder of Medway
Fashion Week. Would-be models and designers can
experiment to their hearts content with a range of
fabrics and costumes, music and lighting to bring
the catwalk to life in your very own fashion show!

The Medway River Tour

This package is a combination of all things liquid. Your costumed guide will tell you maritime tales of times when the whole of the English fleet was moored in Chatham waters.

Your workshop:

Part 1: Gin tasting at the Copper Rivet Distillery.

Part 2: Once full of 'Dutch courage' you will be move out to the river, to board the Tiller & Wheel Thames Sailing Barge 'Edith May' for a 1 hour round trip on the water itself.
